Assistance League of Austin core values:
- Members are committed to helping others.
- Members demonstrate integrity and respect for
themselves and others.
- Members embrace opportunities that come from
improvement and change.
- The Chapter is an organization with shared ownership,
commitment and purpose.
- Members recognize the importance of maintaining a
partnership with our community, our customers and our suppliers.
Classifications of Membership and Financial Requirements:
- Voting ($65) - members who participate in and support the
philanthropic and fundraising activities of the chapter. All active members
attend chapter meetings and have the privilege of voting and holding office.
Active members serve a period of training.
- Fall New Member ($50) - new members serving four months of orientation and training.
Upon satisfactory completion, active membership is granted. Spring New
Members pay $30.
One time fee of $35 is charged for apron, pin, and yearbook.
- Sustaining ($75) - members who have completed a minimum of eight years as an Active
member may apply for this status.
- Associate ($125) - members participate in and support the philanthropic programs and
fundraising activities.
- Community Associate ($0) - individuals who are interested in the philanthropic
services of ALA. Status is granted by the Board; may not hold office.
- Business Associate ($0) - company employee
representative; program training required.
- Professional ($65) - individuals who are employed or are students. They attend
meetings and serve on chapter committees, but do not vote or hold office. Professional members
serve a period of training.
- PAL ($25) - Partners of Assistance
League - spouses/partners of a member who pay
annual dues, but do not vote or hold office and have no requirements for
service. These members are those who have become interested in the
programs and fundraising of Assistance League through their wives, or other
relatives and friends. Many times PAL volunteers help move furniture, do
repairs around the Chapter House, test appliances donated at the THRIFT HOUSE,
and give moral support to their wives and others working hard to support
activities of Assistance League of Austin.
- Junior ($35) - allows young women
to balance career, family and other interests while providing the opportunity to volunteer in
our community. Also must purchase yearbook, pin, and apron.
- Austeens ($25) - teenage members enrolled in high school
who support our programs and fundraising efforts.
Time Requirements:
Each voting member gives a
minimum of 90 hours per year. Professional members must volunteer a minimum of
45 hours. Junior members
are encouraged to give a minimum of 25 hours.
