About Us

Volunteerism in the Austin Community

More than 62,000 service hours were volunteered by members during the fiscal year June 1, 2014 - May 31, 2015. As of June 1, 2015, Assistance League of Austin had 385 members. Assistance League of Austin returned to the Austin community a very high percentage of the funds received. Through our nine philanthropic programs, last year Assistance League of Austin served:

  • 375 assault survivors through distribution of Assault Survivor Kits® (toiletries, clothing, and a book on sexual assault) as well as equipment for SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) program at St. David's Hospital

  • 42 Austin students with Assistance League Scholarships to Austin Community College, covering tuition, books and fees

  • 1050 senior citizens taken on scenic outings with Bus With Us

  • 40 foster youth by providing Life Kits and some business attire to those graduating and exiting the foster care system through Fresh Start

  • Approximately 5,862 students from AISD schools and selected children's shelters with a full school wardrobe of new clothing, shoes, book bag, grooming kit, and books through Operation School Bell®

  • Over 850 children in Austin ISD by providing books to school libraries, books for summer reading programs, and other special requests through Operation Wish List

  • Nearly 18,700 children and families at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas with gifts from the Toy Cart

  • Immeasurable members of our community through donations of excess and unusable items to other 501(c)(3) organizations with Waste Not

  • Clients from various Family Resource Centers hand wrapped hundreds of Christmas gifts for foster children, a collaboration between Partnerships for Children and Outreach
