Capital Campaign and Endowment Fund

Capital Campaign

The Capital Campaign began in January 2004 to create funds for the purchase of a new facility at 4901 Burnet Road. The sale of our previous building at 7951 Burnet Road provided 27% of the revenue. The Capital Campaign maximized member giving, cultivated new funding sources, and sought grant opportunities.

The mortgage was retired in February 2009, and the Capital Campaign was ended formally and successfully on May 31, 2009. Funds in excess of the balance due on the mortgage and outstanding pledges to be collected in the near future will be placed in a building support account to address future major repairs, unanticipated building expenses, and comprehensive maintenance costs.

Endowment Fund

Assistance League of Austin is one of 10 nonprofits to receive an initial challenge grant from Austin Community Foundation (ACF) in 2006, to establish an Endowment Fund, with the goal of reaching $100,000 over four years. ACF matches 1 to 4 in dollars, providing up to $5,000 per year for four years (for a total of $20,000) to match Assistance League's $20,000 per year (for a total of $80,000) over the life of the grant initiative. This endowment will provide a "nest egg" of $100,000. Austin Community Foundation will manage the investments, and Assistance League of Austin will draw from interest dollars when and if the need arises and is an appropriate use of these funds.

The initiative is in its fourth and final year, and we are on course to meet the $100,000 goal on or before December 31, 2009.
